About Me

I been waving Off and on since I was 7 years old. I was a member of the waving community on 360waves.net (username:'cedclark') and used the site to provide help, encouragement and to socialize with other wavers. Went a few years without visiting 360waves.net and recently noticed the site no longer exists. So I decided to create this site as a platform to share all my knowledge about waving and eventually add a community forum so other wavers can do the same. You will find shortcuts to wave methods, tips and products I personally use in the navigation above.

Wave Terminology

Type of wave styles
Note: There are other wave styles, however those are the most common.

Wolfing is growing your hair as long as possible while brushing to deepen waves and improve connections. For best results grow hair until it's no longer manageable. Thats when your hair curls up. To extend wolfing trim hair and continue the process. Tip: Use a deep hair conditioner to make hair more manageable.

The act of brushing or cutting your hair in the opposite direction it grows. I advise against having your hair cut against the grain because there is a chance of losing waves.

The act of brushing or cutting your hair in the direction it grows. I recommend having your hair cut with the grain at all times.

A Fork is when a wave on a different row cross paths with a wave on another row.

Crown is the origin point where your hair pattern begins. It's normally located in the parietal area of your head.

Wave Methods

  • Start at the crown and only brush in the desired direction; do this for each section. End each brush stroke at the hair line.
  • Wear a du-rag when you sleep at night
  • Start with pomade then switch to cremes or gels once your hair is trained

  • Add an excess amount of pomade to your hair, use a soft brush to make sure the pomade is evenly applied to your whole head.
  • Get in the shower with warm running water, allow the water to run over your hair and use a Med brush. Start at the crown and brush to the the hair line with each stroke.
  • Get out of the shower and brush with a soft brush starting at the crown and end at hair line. Brush until hair is damp then du-rag.
  • Use a towel to remove pomade from face then du-rag until hair is dry.
  • Use cheap soft or med brushes for this method because the bristles will collect a lot of hair products.
  • You will get best results if you wolf during this phrase and have your hair even all over.
  • You can repeat this phrase everyday. I recommend as a before bed routine.

  • Locate the fork you want to remove, look at the wave above thats not connected. Start your brush stroke at that point and brush toward the hair line and repeat. For best results use pomade and wear a du-rag when you are done brushing.
  • I recommend using a flat brush while focus brushing near the hair line.
